My name is Brandon Cooper, and I’m the owner and operator of Northshore Salmon Charters. I’m a USCG-licensed and fully insured charter captain based on the Northshore of Door County at The Shoreline Resort in Gills Rock.

Experience on the Great Lakes
2026 will mark my 12th season targeting salmon on the Great Lakes and I couldn’t be more excited to share the experience of catching salmon on the Great Lakes with you!
I have extensive experience on boats as I purchased my first boat at just 15 years old! I grew up on Little Bay De Noc and fishing the islands surrounding Door County and Michigan waters.
I have been to some of the most remote areas of the Great Lakes with multiple trips to Stannard Rock, and Isle Royale National Park!
Salmon fishing has been my passion since the moment I hooked into my first “screaming” salmon!

What to Expect

All skill levels are welcomed from beginners to serious anglers. If you’re a beginner, I will actively direct you and help when needed. If you are a seasoned angler, I’d love to hear about different techniques that you may use when fishing. I absolutely love the thrill of seeing someone get hooked up with a reel screaming and acrobatic salmon. It is quite the adrenaline rush!
Leaving The Dock
Trips depart from the Shoreline Resort marina in Gills Rock. Morning trips leave the dock at 4:00 AM— one of the best times to catch salmon is as the sun is rising over the lake. Evening trips depart around 4:00 PM and return at 9:00 PM or at sunset, depending on the time of year. For those looking for more time on the water, I also offer 8-hour trips. Customized trips are available based on schedule and availability.
Fishing License
You will need to purchase a fishing license at https://gowild.wi.gov/. Wisconsin offers a $14.00 2-day Great Lakes Fishing License which includes a trout/salmon stamp that is required. Please bring a paper copy of license.
If you have a yearly fishing license, please make sure you get the trout/salmon stamp as you will need it. If you are not in their system you may need your drivers license or social security number handy to purchase.
Items To Bring
Please come prepared with warm clothing, food, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, and Dramamine if needed for motion sickness. Weather conditions and temperatures can change quickly on the lake.
The cuddy cabin is equipped with a toilet for use during the trip. Please also bring a cooler to transport your fish home.
Weather
I consistently watch weather forecasts before and during our trips to determine what the wind and waves will be like while we are on the lake.
Your safety is my #1 priority and I will have to cancel trips due to adverse weather.
Fish Cleaning
Included with your charter is fish cleaning. As we are finishing up our trip and heading into dock, I will be cleaning all of the days catch. I will have all the fish fileted, and bagged for you to take home. Please make sure to bring a cooler with you for your catch.
